2 STUDENTS WITH INITIATIVE + 1 IDEA = 233 POUNDS OF FOOD!

THANK YOU!!

Helping Hands Network was recently the recipient of 233 pounds of food collected by two students in the SOAR program at Sandy Valley Elementary School.  Amber Ward and Kaitlyn Williams are fifth grade students who were looking for a special project.  Amber has volunteered at HHN before and they agreed that a food drive would be the perfect project.  The girls obtained permission, organized and promoted the drive for the 3rd and 4th grade students, and delivered the food to HHN.

233 pounds of food will provide 194 meals and has a value of $498.58! Their efforts will feed our neighbors in need.  What a wonderful lesson two 11 year olds have taught us.  A little initiative can produce outstanding results.  SOAR stands for Stimulating minds, Ongoing exploration, Achieving new levels and Rising to the challenge.  Congratulations to Amber and Kaitlyn on exemplifying the SOAR goals and congratulations to their teachers, Miss Marshall and Mrs. Woods, along with their parents, Michelle and Jeff Ward and Stephanie and Kevin Williams for teaching and encouraging these young women.  There is no doubt that these two will be SOARing for years to come!
